VMware by Broadcom sponsors a prestigious program called “vExpert”, intended to honor individuals worldwide who contribute significantly to the VMware Community, also known as the “vCommunity”. Many vExperts engage in a variety of activities such as speaking at conferences, participating in user groups, publishing blog posts, producing YouTube videos, and more. Though it is not a technical certification, the vExpert program recognizes those who “give back” to the vCommunity and share their technical knowledge with others. As of now, there are approximately 1,300 vExperts spanning 73 countries around the globe. The vExpert designation is an annual achievement, with eligibility reviewed and renewed if the candidate satisfies the program requirements.
The Value of a vExpert
What makes a vExpert valuable? vExperts are technical professionals who dedicate their time – often during nights and weekends – to produce content, prepare presentations, and offer advice to others within the vCommunity. Successful vExperts not only demonstrate technical competency in their field but also encourage and support others to overcome technical challenges and consider giving back as well.
Who, me?!
I am proud to announce that I have been accepted into the VMware vExpert program as of August 2024! This is my first year of being accepted into the program. Giving back to the vCommunity by sharing my knowledge and experiences was an easy decision, especially in disciplines such as Automation, which I feel are underserved but incredibly valuable. This is a great honor, and I thank you all for the support along the way.
Interested in Becoming a vExpert?
Are you interested in learning more about the vExpert program, potentially even becoming a vExpert yourself? Full program details and eligibility requirements are published on the vExpert Website, which includes the program directory and online application portal. Be sure to follow the @vExpert handle on X (Twitter) for the latest updates as well!
Special Thanks
I would like to express my gratitude to Dale Hassinger (vCROCS, @dalehassinger) and Christopher Kusek (The Pragmatic Tech, @cxi) for providing inspiration, guidance, and fellowship over the last couple of years. My professional experience, especially in Automation and VMware products has grown considerably thanks to their partnership.
